Bowater Toyota gets Blue this September

This September Bowater Toyota are putting best foot forward and getting right behind the drive to inform men how important it is to get more involved with their own health. This month is Blue September, the Prostate Cancer Foundation's national awareness campaign to get more kiwi men talking about their health in general, and getting checkups.

Bowater Toyota where keen to get involved when asked by local customers Placemakers. Nationally they are a cornerstone sponsor of the event. Locally they also get right behind it and get folks motivated and talking about it. Amongst otther activities they will be holding an absolutely awesome fundraising evening on Friday September 12th at the Stoke School - a good old fashioned Quiz Night and auction. All proceeds will be donated to Blue September.

It costs $15 a head, and the tables seat 8, so get a bunch of mates together and call Steffan at Placemakers in Stoke asap to secure your spot.

The Cancer Society Nelson gets all Jazzy on Daffodil Day

This morning Sheryl Wearing from Bowater Honda met up with Sue and Linda from Cancer Society Nelson on the Church Steps to lend them the daffodil yellow Honda Jazz demonstrator we have in our showroom to use for the day.

The Bowater Motor Group have a long history of supporting Cancer Society Nelson with our relationship being very strong over the past 2 years, including projects such as the BMG Mini for Nelson Cancer, the Relay for Life and sponsorship of the centre's primary vehicle. When the topic of Daffodil Day came up recently we asked what we could do to help. Hopefully the very noticable Daffodil Yellow 2014 Honda Jazz will draw attention to the volunteers as they travel the region collecting donations on this very important fund raising day for Cancer Society Nelson.

We reach the end of a wonderful project with a final cheque presentation to the Cancer Society Nelson

Alison McAlpine, chair of Cancer Society Nelson and Linda Lucre (Centre Manager) receiving the cheque from the sale of the BMG Mini Trailer from Tony Bowater.

We recently had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for $1590 to the Cancer Society Nelson as the final stage of the BMG Mini for Nelson Cancer.

This cheque arose from the selling of the custom built trailer that the BMG Mini was carted around on in the promotional phase of the project.

This bought the massive project to an end for us as major sponsors of what has to be regarded as a wonderfully successful fund raising campaign. Overall the very hard working Caffeine Crew team from Wakefield, led by ex-mechanic Bob Croy, has raised over $110,000 for the region.

The Bowater Motor Group has been an instrumental part of this entire project, supplying free of charge all of the parts needed to completely rebuild the 1975 Mini from the ground up. The Parts Department of Bowater Toyota, led by Kieron Reilly, had quite a task sourcing some of these parts, but came through each and every time sourcing sometimes hard to find parts through their extensive network of contacts and associates.

After close to 2 years of hard work, and alot of blood, sweat and tears by all involved with this very ambitious project, the Bowater's team were proud to round off the project with the final donation handover to the representatives of Cancer Society Nelson.

Supporting the Brook Sanctuary

The Brook Sanctuary is returning nature to the Nelson Region. They are undertaking a very ambitious and visionary project, and amongst other very important projects they are currently working on raising funds to place a 14km predator-proof fence that will create a 700ha native wildlife experience close to Nelson’s city centre.

The Bowater Motor Group are right behind them on this project, and we have injected our own support during the initial public fundraising phase of the project by enabling them to have a campaign office downtown in the heart of Nelson.
